The L Word: Generation Q Recap #1

Episode 1: "Let's Do It Again" #lwordgenqrecap

Bloody fingers!! It looks like The L Word Generation Q is off to a historical start. Jumping off we have two women of color gettin it on, meet Dani and Sophie. Our guess is, these two are supposed to mirror the old Bette and Tina? In this case Dani being Bette, a pantsuit wearing powerhouse whose father doesn't approve of her queerness and Sophie as Tina (she's even a producer!). At least Sophie seems less annoying than Tina by far and definitely hotter. We then meet Finley (the new Shane?) sneaking out after what we assume was a one night stand. She has five roommates in a tiny apartment. If that sounds familiar, thats because it is exactly how Shane was living back in 2004! So far Finley seems like the loud and obnoxious friend. Is anyone else wondering why this bitch is always out of breath? Last but not least we have Micah. Horray for some real trans representation on the L Word FINALLY! We are not sure how they all met yet, but we think it's safe to assume Dani, Sophie, and Micah live together and Finley is just at their house a lot.

Clearly ten years has been good to the triple threat (Bette, Alice, Shane)! Shane lands in L.A. in a private jet, Bette is running for mayor, and Alice has her own talk show. They also somehow have not aged and we personally think they all look better than they did in the original opening season in 2004! Angie is all grown up and momma T is not around from what we can tell. Honestly we're just happy Chaiken didn't pull a Shonda Rhimes and kill her off. Alice's partner Nat has two kids, so the comedic relief is sure to keep us entertained. And sorry to break everyone's hearts, but Shane is apparently married! Don't worry, that didn't stop her from fucking the stewardess as soon as she landed. Bette and Alice send Finley over to furnish Shane's new GIANT house and it seems like the transition between the new characters with the old is done pretty well.

Dani gets hired to work on Bette's campaign although we must admit we miss James and his horrendous side burns. Sophie works for Alice as a producer on her show. Finley also works for Alice as maybe her assistant? We are not exactly sure, but we do know it must not pay well. Shane insinuates Finley can crash with her if she ever needs a place, and as the "annoying" character she will probably move in tomorrow! We are not sure how Micah ties in with the old cast yet or if his story plot will evolve into its own thing, but so far so good.

All in all it seemed like a pretty mellow episode with a promising future. Dani and Sophie get engaged, someone drops a ball on Bette's campaign about her affair with his wife (surprise, surprise), Micah meets the hottie next door neighbor and Angie wants to live with momma T! Even though it was rather slow, the drama is coming and we are here for it! We hope to see some familiar faces for a guest appearance like Carmen, Helena, or Kit. And of course, we are still wondering... who killed Jenny?
